Direction and contents
Since 2017, Menorca has been the stage for the Trobades & Premis Mediterranis Albert Camus, organized by the Trobades Literàries Mediterrànies (TLM) Association and the Sant Lluís town council. Both the Trobades Mediterrànies Albert Camus and the Premis Mediterranis Albert Camus, which take place during alternating years, promote the gathering of Mediterranean thinkers and creators to celebrate the work and thought of Albert Camus, whose grandmother was born in Sant Lluís, Menorca, as well as to reinforce the role of culture and art in today’s society.
Albert Camus is an international symbol of rebellion, justice and humanism. His thought has inspired generations and, in a world now as turbulent as the one in which he lived, he can help us understand one another better and re-establish a Mediterranean region that will once again become a cultural paradigm in the global landscape.
Thus we invoke the figure of Albert Camus to identify Menorca with his vast literary and philosophical legacy and define the island as an international point of reference.
The Trobades & Premis Mediterranis Albert Camus wish to become an annual rendez-vous of international thought leadership, with Albert Camus as our beacon to guide a present tailored to the human being.

Programme
An appointment every spring
Trobades, odd years
Through the thoughts and voices of contemporary creators and inspired by the values and reflections of Albert Camus, every spring the Trobades explore new paths for a common future through conferences, debates, round tables and parallel activities.
Awards, even years
The Premi Mediterrani Albert Camus recognises the artistic and life trajectory of an important Mediterranean creator of international relevance, while the Premi Mediterrani Albert Camus Incipiens promotes journalistic projects by young authors. Both awards allow Menorca to obtain great media notoriety in the local and national press, globally promoting the island’s image as a first-rate cultural destination.
